About Me
You only live once so you might as well be amusing
-Coco Chanel
Growing up, my mom always taught me that it's good to be different and to never be a follower. When I was a young child, my hair was always shorter than everyone else's. I never understood why but I think it's because it took her less time to blow dry it. Then as I got to middle school all I wanted was to have long hair that I could put in a high pony with angel bangs. Instead, I had the Meg Ryan hair cut from "You've Got Mail". In high school when all my friends had long straight hair that took 3 hours to flat iron, I had the Victoria Beckham bob. As I got older and more confident I realized that my mom was right. Just because everyone else wears their hair a certain way, doesn't mean it looks good. And... It's just hair. It will grow back. As an adult, I thank her for making me comfortable in my own skin.
I understand now that not being like everyone else is not called being different. It's called having personality. It's the pop of color in a black and white photo. Historically, the people that have influenced us culturally and artistically over the years all have that common. They all have a personality, and more importantly, they aren't afraid to show it. Coco Chanel said it best.
"You only live once so you might as well be amusing."
I am amusing and I like amusing things.
I was born in Montgomery, Alabama, grew up in Atlanta and Birmingham, then attended Auburn University where I majored in Apparel Merchandising and Product Design. I have a strong appreciation for high fashion and classic 20th century art. I currently live at Lake Martin with my wonderful husband and our dog, Pringle. Pringle is my favorite girl. She has a lot of personality, just like me, and she stays out of my closet.

Pringle Walker
VP of Operations & Executive Assistant
Pringle is a major contributor to the success of Sara D. Design & Co. She's a cattle dog so she's a natural born helper. Her main job is to keep watch from a drop cloth and ensure no blowers, brooms, mops, rakes, shovels or vacuums impede on our progress. She has strong communication skills and never fails to let the UPS guy know we are too busy to chat. On her days off she doubles as a life guard. She enjoys riding on the boat, paddle boarding, and relaxing in the sun. Although she prefers to be on the water instead of in the water, she will make exceptions for a good tennis ball.
